Fluency for Social English

It’s our job to provide you with lots of opportunity to practice the English language and develop your confidence with speaking in social events or situations. The conversation starters for you to practice are like:

  • small talk starters like Where are you from? How long have you worked as a…?
  • question starters like what, where, how, when, which, why
  • practice question forms to make small talk about different topics like sports and hobbies, travel and holidays, work, news and media developing open questions like “Is this your first time at this meeting?”

Effective conversationalists tend to build small talk by asking a closed question (one that can be answered with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’).

You can develop this skill by writing a list of general Yes/ No questions on a piece of paper.
